O's attempt to halt skid in opener with Blue Jays

Baseball Betting Lines

09/26/2008 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Baltimore Orioles try and put the brakes on a nine-game losing streak this evening, as they begin their final series of the season, a three-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays at Camden Yards.

Baltimore is a brutal 5-26 since August 22 and enters this series after getting swept by the Tampa Bay Rays, culminating with an 11-6 setback in Wednesday's finale. Luke Scott doubled in three runs and Brian Roberts scored twice on a pair of hits in the loss, while Nick Markakis had three hits with a run scored and an RBI for the O's, who haven't lost 10 in a row since a 12- game slide in August 2004.

Brian Burres (7-10) was charged with the loss in relief of Radhames Liz, who gave up five runs (four earned) and five hits in five innings.

Baltimore will turn to Chris Waters tonight. Waters lost for the fourth time in his last five outings on Sunday in New York, as the Yankees tagged him for five runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings, dropping him to 3-4, while raising his ERA to 5.06.

Waters' lone win over the last month was a four-hit shutout over the Jays two starts ago.

Toronto will counter with righty Scott Richmond, who is still looking for his first big league win. Richmond was charged with the loss on Sunday against Boston, surrendering three runs and five hits in five innings, as he fell to 0-3 to go along with a 5.14 ERA.

The Blue Jays salvaged the finale of their three-game set with the Yankees on Thursday, as Roy Halladay was brilliant on the hill en route to picking up his 20th win of the season in Toronto's 8-2 win at Rogers Centre.

The right-hander allowed just two runs on six hits and hurled his ninth complete game of the year, tying Milwaukee's CC Sabathia for the major league lead. Halladay (20-11) also beat the Yankees for the fifth time this season.

Vernon Wells homered and drove in four runs for the Blue Jays, who snapped a three-game skid.

Toronto has won 10 of its 15 matchups with the O's this season.

MySportsbook.com refunds all bets on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay from NFL week one.

(September 14) – Week one of NFL action saw three teams go scoreless for the first time since 1977.  Another four were unable to get a touchdown and almost half of the underdogs covered the spread. Those three teams saved bettors at MySportsbook.com from losing out completely, thanks to the company’s unique NFL Shutout Rule -- which ensures that if the team you backed goes scoreless, your wager is refunded.

Sportsbook refunded tens of thousands of dollars to customers who bet on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay, the three teams that stunk up the field so badly that their fans and backers never had a chance to get up from their couches and cheer.  In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.

MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season.  Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite.  After beating up on his little brother last week, Peyton Manning will look to lead the Colts to victory against Houston. Indianapolis is a whopping 13.5 favorite in the match-up.

Seattle, last year’s highest scoring team, showed the power of their defense with their gritty 9-6 win in Motown over the ravenous Lions.  They take their act back home to the comforts of Qwest Field where they will face the resurgent Arizona Cardinals.  The Seahawks are favored by a touchdown.

American Idol odds : Blake Lewis the Early Standout

An important American Idol betting lines recap from February 20 Guys episode. The 12 men came out flat overall with Blake Lewis appearing to have the early edge after the first hour and a half.

Rudy - was quite good singing "Free Ride" to start off.  Randy was not impressed though.  Paula thought he started off fantastic.  "Never had anyone stop off so lively" said Paula but Simon (who does not like Rudy) does not feel he has a distinct voice and was not impressed either.

Brandon was a little pitchy according to Randy and Paula agreed.  Simon said he was a good singer but the song was "too safe" and he needs to make an impact.  He was listed at +1200 odds or $1200 paid out on a $100 bet should he win the competition.

Big favorite Sundance came in with a flat version of "Knights in White Satin" and the judges let him have it, including Paula.  Randy claimed the song was out of pitch throughout.

Korean American - and a Jenny Woo favorite - Paul Kim was up next.  Another pitchy flat one but Randy said he still liked his potential.  Kim at +3000 odds was said to have sung a "third rate version of that (George Michael) song" according to Simon Cowell.  He sang "Careless Whisper".

22 year old Chris Richardson was up next.  He was listed with +1100 odds coming in.  He got the best response from the judges though Simon did not believe the vocal was that great.

Nick was boring and pitchy.  Simon didn't think he was that bad though and predicted he would be back next week.  Nick Pedro was a big +3000 dog coming into this competition.

Beat boxer Blake Lewis was listed with early +1000 odds or $1000 payout on a $100 bet if he were to become the next American Idol winner odds .  These of course were the early odds.  He was considered original for picking an "odd song".  He did not beat box and the judges felt it was the best vocal of the night.

Sanjaya came in as the second biggest favorite after Chris Sligh but his performance Tuesday night was not very good.

Chris Sleigh was the early favorite at +450 odds.  Great voice and a great sense of humor.  He's a real standout.  Randy felt it was on point but maybe ahead of the chorus a little bit.  Simon Cowell said he felt like he was in some "sort of weird student gig".

Jared Cotter followed.  He was listed with +2000 odds early on to win the competition.  The judges felt he needs to take more risks but looked good.

22-year old AJ Talbado, who has tried out for American Idol five times, was up next.  "Kind of a theme park performance" said Simon.  Though the judges felt he performed okay.  Simon did feel AJ might be better than he originally thought.

Phil - this season's military favorite - came into this competition with +1200 odds to win the competition.  He was the last to perform.  He was certainly strong enough to get through this stage of the competition and perhaps the best one after a shaky start.

Tomorrow night, the ladies perform and I sure hope they do a better job than the boys.  Check out all the American Idol betting odds here.
