Wozniacki advances in Tokyo

10/02/2008 - Tokyo, Japan (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki, the top seed, blasted Japanese wild card Ayumi Morita, 6-2, 6-1, to reach the quarterfinals of the $175,000 Japan Open Tennis Championships.

Wozniacki, who already has two titles this year, the first ones of her career, will take on seventh seed Tamarine Tanasugarn in the quarterfinals.

There was an upset on Thursday with second seed Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain falling to Australian Samantha Stosur, 6-1, 7-5.

In other second-round play, eighth seed Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada dismissed Japanese qualifier Ryoko Fuda, 6-1, 6-1; Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic topped Poland's Marta Domachowska, 6-3, 6-0; and Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova defeated Japanese qualifier Rika Fujiwara, 6-2, 6-4.

Stosur will play Wozniak in the quarterfinals, while the other matchups will have Pavlyuchenkova battling fifth seed Kaia Kanepi of Estonia, and Zakopalova going against Slovakia's Jarmila Gajdosova.

The 2008 Japan Open champion will collect $28,000.
