07/24/2008 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The New York Knicks signed free agent guard Anthony Roberson, the club announced Thursday.
Terms of the pact were not disclosed, although the New York Post reports it is a two-year deal with the first year at league minimum for a third-year player ($790,000) with the second year yet to be determined.
The six-foot-two, 195-pound Roberson averaged 5.6 points in 11.4 minutes per game with Golden State during the 2006-07 season. The former Florida Gator spent last season playing overseas in Turkey and Israel.
Roberson averaged 14.8 points through five games in the NBA Summer League for the Knicks. The signing of Roberson could mean the departure of malcontent Stephon Marbury, who Knicks' brass feel could be a divisive force in the locker room.
